Frames built around the work.
Not the other way round.
A picture framer's studio on Church Street, working with artists and collectors for fifteen years.
Gilt Frame & Print is a small bench workshop in Stoke Newington. We make frames by hand — cutting, jointing, gessoing and gilding the way it has been done for centuries — and we print fine art editions on a twelve-ink pigment press in the back room.
We work with painters and printmakers from the studios up the road, with private collectors who've inherited something delicate, and with anyone who walks in with a piece they care about. Whatever it is, the frame is drawn around it. Never the other way round.
Twelve house mouldings. Hundreds more on request.
Solid timber sections cut and jointed in the workshop. Gold leaf laid by hand on hand-gessoed mouldings. Bring the work in — we'll show you every profile against it before you choose.

“I've taken work to half the framers in London. Gilt was the first place that spent twenty minutes looking at the painting before saying a word about the frame. The result is faultless — and it's the frame the work always wanted.”
