Pen, ink,
and your guest list.
Hand-addressed envelopes, place cards, menus and bespoke prints for couples who'd rather their stationery felt written, not printed.
A small studio
in Bath.
Quill & Vow began at a kitchen table in 2014 and now works from a quiet first-floor room above Walcot Street. The desk has a south-facing window, a stack of cotton papers and around thirty ink bottles in regular rotation.
I take on roughly sixty weddings a year, alongside a handful of corporate and private commissions. Everything is written by hand — no printers, no plotters, no shortcuts. The work is slow, which is rather the point.
I'm a working member of the Letter Arts Society and trained originally in modern calligraphy under Sue Hufton. Commissions come from across the West Country, London and occasionally further afield when a courier can be trusted with the parcel.
Recent commissions.
A small cross-section of the last eighteen months — envelope suites, place cards, menus and the occasional larger piece. Each shown with the script, ink and stock used.

Five things, done by hand.
Wedding Invitations
Hand-addressed envelopes and inner cards in your chosen script. Modern pointed, copperplate, italic or Spencerian — sampled before any quantity is begun.
Place Cards & Menus
Names lettered onto cotton card, vellum or seating tiles. Sat down with the final guest list two to three weeks before the day, never sooner.
Hand-Lettered Signs
Welcome boards, seating plans, order-of-service signs. Lettered onto board, mirror, slate or acrylic — collected from Bath or couriered nationally.
Bespoke Prints
A favourite vow, a poem, a first dance lyric — lettered as a single artwork and framed. Often commissioned as a wedding gift or first anniversary piece.
Corporate & Editorial
Lettering for hotels, restaurants, brand films and editorial commissions. Past work for Babington House, Vogue and a handful of London publishers.
Thirty inks
on the shelf.
Walnut, iron gall, rose, sage and twenty-six others — mixed by hand or kept ready in small glass bottles. If you've a colour in mind that isn't here, I'll mix to a swatch before the run begins.
Honest per-piece rates.
Pricing is per piece — no minimum order — with a small studio fee added for sample work and stock. Full quotation follows a short call.

“The envelopes arrived in a soft cotton bag, two by two, every name written in sepia and absolutely perfect. Guests have asked to keep them. A small, quiet luxury — worth every penny.”
