Desk shoulders & neck
Tight upper traps, mid-back stiffness, the headache that creeps up by Wednesday. Common, and quietly fixable.
A small Harrogate practice with one focus: getting people out of pain and back to moving well. Low-force technique, careful assessment, and the time to actually explain what’s going on with your back.

We see roughly the same six complaints day in, day out — and the good news is that most of them respond to a few weeks of careful work. If you recognise yourself below, it’s worth a conversation.
Tight upper traps, mid-back stiffness, the headache that creeps up by Wednesday. Common, and quietly fixable.
Whether it’s a flare-up after lifting or a constant dull ache, lower back complaints make up over half of what we see.
Pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, late-trimester discomfort. Gentle techniques suited to every stage.
Often referred from the neck. We assess upper cervical alignment and the muscles that pull on it.
Runners, cyclists, weekend footballers — we treat the joint, not just the symptom, and get you moving again.
Paediatric care for colic, sleep difficulties, posture concerns. Always low-force, always parent-present.
Painkillers have their place. But for most musculoskeletal pain, they’re a holding pattern rather than a fix. Here’s how the two approaches actually compare.
None of this replaces medical advice for serious or acute symptoms — we’ll always refer on where appropriate.

Emma qualified from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in 2011 and has practised in Harrogate ever since. Her training in the McTimoney low-force technique makes her work particularly suited to children, expectant mothers, and patients nervous of traditional manipulation. She lectures occasionally at the college and is a member of the McTimoney Chiropractic Association.
Outside the clinic, Emma runs the Stray most mornings, has two small children, and knows from first-hand experience why most of our patients come through the door.

The first appointment is forty-five minutes. We’ll take a full history, assess movement and posture, and explain what we think is going on in plain language. If we don’t think we’re the right people to help, we’ll tell you and point you to someone who is.
“I’d been on and off painkillers for a tight lower back for nearly a decade. Six visits with Emma and I haven’t needed one since. She actually listens, explains everything, and didn’t try to sign me up for fifty sessions.”
We’d much rather have a five-minute conversation about your symptoms than a back-and-forth on email. Call in clinic hours and you’ll usually speak to Emma directly.
