Tutors who teach the why.
Not just how to pass the test.

A small Cambridge practice of Oxbridge-educated tutors working with families across the city and the villages. Maths, English, Sciences. Primary through to A-Level, plus 11+ and Common Entrance. In person or online — whichever suits the child.

IIHow We Work

A patient, old-fashioned way of teaching.

i.

A free assessment

We sit down with the child and a parent — usually for forty-five minutes, no charge. We see where the gaps are, what they enjoy, and whether we’re actually the right fit. If we’re not, we’ll say so.

ii.

A tutor matched, not allocated

We don’t hand you whoever has a Tuesday slot free. We match by subject, by stage, and by temperament — a quiet child does not need a brisk tutor, and vice versa.

iii.

Lessons that build the why

Anyone can drill a past paper. We teach the reasoning underneath, because a child who understands why a method works will not forget it under exam pressure.

iv.

Weekly written reports

Every Friday, parents receive a short written note — what was covered, what landed, what still needs work. No surprises at parents’ evening.

IIIThe Tutors

From a Cambridge parent
“Our daughter went from a flat 6 in Maths to an 8 in eight months — but more than the grade, she stopped dreading the subject. Helena’s lessons were the calmest hour of her week. Worth every penny.”

VWhere We Teach

Cambridge and the surrounding villages.

Our rooms are on Trumpington Road, a five-minute walk from the station and an easy hop from Newnham, Grantchester, Trumpington and the city centre. Parking on the road is straightforward outside term-time hours.

We also take pupils from Histon, Girton, Sawston, Hardwick, Comberton, Great Shelford and the surrounding villages — either in person at the rooms, or online over our shared whiteboard. The online lessons are recorded so a child can re-watch a tricky explanation later in the week.

If you’re unsure whether we’re a good fit — for the child, the subject, or the schedule — ring us. Half an hour on the telephone is free, and we’ll tell you honestly.

VIBook An Assessment

The first
assessment is always free.

Forty-five minutes, in our rooms or over a video call. We meet the pupil, hear what you’re hoping for, and tell you honestly whether we can help — before any money changes hands.
